Abstract

On the basis of dimensional analysis and free volume concept of liquid a relationship between ultrasonic velocity and viscosity has been derived. This equation has been applied to two binary and (Diglyme+Octane+2,2,4,Trimethyl pentane) and two quaternary (n-Pentane+Toluene+Cyclohexane and n-Decane+n- Hexane+Cyclohexane+Benzene) liquid mixtures. The agreement is found to be quite satisfactory.
