Abstract

The evolution of (1+1)D bright soliton has been investigated theoretically in anisotropic bulk media having extraordinary nonlinear responses. Transverse instability can be fully abolished if the soliton is rendered sufficiently incoherent in its transverse dimension. A threshold transverse instability criterion has been evolved that connects nonlinearity to the greatest transverse correlation distance at which the spatial bright soliton is stable.
