Abstract

Ferrite with the composition Li0.45 Mn0.1Fe2.45O4 was
prepared using the citrate precursor method. The sample was given
final sintering at five different temperatures of 1080oC, 1032oC, 984oC,
936oC and 888oC after a pre sintering at 540oC. The final heating rate
of the samples is 6oC/min. Spinel structure of the prepared ferrite
sample was confirmed from the X-ray diffraction technique. From the
analysis of the XRD data, parameters such as density, and crystallite
size were calculated. With the increase in the sintering temperature the
theoretical and the experimental densities were observed to increase,
the experimental density being determined using the Archimedes’s
principle. The crystallite size for the samples was in the nanometer
range. Room temperature dc resistivity and room temperature dielectric
constant at 10 kHz were investigated. The dc resistivity increases while
the dielectric constant shows a decrease with the rise in the sintering
temperature. Dispersion is observed in the variation of dielectric
constant with frequency. The Curie temperature shows a decrease.
Possible reason for all the above observation is being discussed
