Abstract

In conventional faulttree analysis, the failure probabilities of component of a system are treated as exact values in estimating the failure probability of the top event. The fault detection and analysis of a system are the key measures to improve the reliability of the system. Due to the complexity in the structure and the variations in operating conditions, the occurrence of a fault inside a system is uncertain and random. Until now, the fault statistics is very limited due to the low failure rate. Present paper proposes a novel fault tree analysis method based on vague set theory.
